Genesis about SDET

Swami Dayananda Educational Trust (SDET), a public charitable trust is involved in providing quality education to the economically backward sections of society surrounding Manjakkudi village in Tiruvarur district, Tamil Nadu. Manjakkudi is a small hamlet and is the heart of all of SDET’s activities in the region.

SDET oversees the day to day running of three educational institutions in Manjakkudi and Sembangudi village. This meets the educational requirements of 300 villages surrounding Manjakkudi on a daily basis.

Over the years, SDET has expanded its scope of activities to include traditional knowledge systems (Vedapatashala and Vedanta retreats), animal welfare (Goshala), sustainable living initiatives (organic farming), healthcare (Ayurveda Clinic and wellness centre) and other community development initiatives.


About the College

Swami Dayananda College of Arts & Science, affiliated with Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli–24, was established in 2001 by the Swami Dayananda Educational Trust to provide quality education in a nurturing rural environment. The college is located at Swami Dayananda Campus, Manjakkudi – 612610, Tiruvarur District, and was recognized by the UGC under Sections 2(f) and 12(B) in 2018. It is accredited by NAAC with an ‘A’ Grade and is an ISO 9001:2015 Certified Institution.

Situated on 9.15 acres in the birthplace of His Holiness Pujiya Sri Swami Dayananda Saraswati, the college empowers economically challenged students to compete effectively with their peers. The institution offers 11 undergraduate, 3 postgraduate, 2 M.Phil., and 1 Ph.D. programmes, alongside a Diploma in Yoga and seven certificate courses through the Entrepreneurship Cell, educating around 1800 students under the guidance of a dedicated 70-member faculty.

The college continues its relentless service to students from economically weaker sections. It promotes holistic development through Carnatic music, yoga classes, and annual convocation events, fostering a rich heritage and intellectual growth.

Guided by its motto, "Educating the Future Rooted in Tradition" the college stands as a premier center for higher education in the region.
